What is CivicCapture?
CivicCapture is a mobile-friendly platform that enables individuals and organizations to collect and share photos tied to local initiatives using QR codes. Whether it's documenting storm damage, reporting civic issues, or showcasing community events, CivicCapture empowers residents to participate directly in civic life.
What is a "Campaign" on CivicCapture?
A campaign is a photo collection effort organized around a specific civic purpose. Campaigns can be created by city departments, nonprofits, community groups, or individuals to gather visual data for:
- Infrastructure reporting (e.g., potholes, damaged signs)
- Disaster response (e.g., storm aftermath)
- Community cleanups
- Public events or local stories
Do I need to download an app?
No. CivicCapture is entirely browser-based. Just scan the QR code, open the link, and upload your photo — no app installation required.
Campaign & Contribution Questions
Can anyone create a campaign?
Campaign creation is currently open to verified users and organizations. If you're interested in launching a campaign, just sign up with the site.
Is my location or personal info shared when I upload a photo?
Your location may be included only if you allow location access on your device. CivicCapture does not automatically collect personal information unless explicitly provided.
Who sees the photos I submit?
Photos are viewable by the campaign organizer. If the campaign is public, your submission may also be visible to other users after moderation and approval.
What happens if someone submits inappropriate content?
CivicCapture uses manual and optional AI moderation. Inappropriate content can be reported and will be reviewed and removed if it violates our content standards.
